After 20 Years, Anthrax Will Return To Sharing Stages With Black Sabbath

JAKARTA – Anthrax and Black Sabbath have been pillars of loud music in recent decades. However, these two bands are actually quite rare to share the stage.

The last time Anthrax and Black Sabbath intersected was twenty years ago. In 2005, they both became the main performers for the Download Festival at the UK.

After 20 years, they will be back on the same stage. Anthrax is confirmed to take part in the Black Sabbath final concert, Back to the Beginning on July 5 at Villa Park, Birmingham.

Anthrax personnel enthusiastically welcomed the big celebration which was also enlivened by the other rock bands. They see Ozzy et al as a role model band that has an influence on the formation of the Anthrax music character.

“I am a big fan of Black Sabbath. They played a huge role in the sound that formed Anthrax in the early days,” said Charlie Benante, drummer Anthrax quoting Blabbermouth on April 14.

“Back to ’86, when we worked on our third album, we wanted to make a B-side of BLACK SABBATH’s song. ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ was the song we chose. We made it as a B-side, we played it live, and it became a big thing for us,” Charlie recalled.

Joey Bcadenna, vocalist of Anthrax also claimed to be a true fan of Black Sabbath. He revealed that he often covered their songs at the beginning of his interest in music.

In 1986, Anthrax and Black Sabbath held a tour together. This moment is highly remembered by Joey et al, so one of the unforgettable moments.

Therefore, the inspiration’s farewell concert will be a special stage for Anthrax. They felt very proud to be involved in the event.

“It is an honor to be a part of this event and I am very grateful to BLACK SABBATH and Sharon Osbourne for asking us to be a part of it,” concluded bassist Frank Bello.
