Clemson is ranked in college basketball polls after wins vs Kentucky, Miami
CLEMSON โย Clemsonย men’s basketballย is ranked No. 16 in theย USA TODAY Sports Coaches Pollย released on Monday.
Theย Tigers (9-1)ย received 237 points and are ranked in the regular-season coaches poll for the first time since Week 10 of last season. They are the second-highest ACC team, finishing behind No. 6 Duke.
Clemson upset No. 5 Kentuckyย 70-66ย in the SEC/ACC challenge and beat ACC rival Miamiย 65-55ย to finish Week 6 undefeated. The Tigers are 11th in the NET rankings, which evaluates a team’s record and rรฉsumรฉ. Their next test is against Memphis (7-2) on Dec. 14 (11 a.m. ET, ESPN2) at Littlejohn Coliseum.
ACC teams that didn’t make the Top 25 but received votes were Pitt (50) and North Carolina (2).
Tennessee is the No. 1 team in the poll, earning 745 points and 25 first-place votes. Auburn is No. 2, receiving 709 points and five first-place votes.
The USA TODAY Sports Board of Coaches is made up of 31 head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Clemson AP rankings update
In the AP poll, Clemson rose to No. 16, receiving 491 points. It sits behind Duke (No. 4, 1,295 points) in the conference.
Two ACC teams did not make the AP Top 25 but received votes: Pitt (62) and North Carolina (24).
Tennessee rose to No. 1 in the AP poll, earning 1,544 points and 58 first-place votes. No. 2 Auburn received three first-place votes, and No. 3 Iowa State earned one.
