Steve Harris says it’s “insane” that Iron Maiden has been going on for so long
Steve Harris, bassist for Iron Maiden, discussed the band’s impending 50th anniversary tour, which is scheduled for 2025 and 2026, with Music Radar. During the “Run For Your Lives” world tour, Harris and his bandmates will play hits from their first nine studio albums, which include “Iron Maiden” from 1980 and “Fear Of The Dark” from 1992, which was singer Bruce Dickinson’s final album before he left the group and then returned in 1999.
It’s amazing that this band’s been going for 50 years. When you really think about it, it’s insane. How many songs we’ve done, how many albums, how many tours… it’s outrageous. And it’s fantastic to see so many young people in the audience now. A couple of shows that we did recently, we had youngsters, real youngsters, like nine or ten years old, and then some others like teens or early twenties. So we’re still generating new fans all the time. And I think that’s because we put on a good, entertaining show. We’re still playing really well. And for all those young people turning up, I think a lot of them — dare I say it — I don’t think they’ve seen anything like it. Iron Maiden release an official video of thank you to Nicko McBrain
To spend 42 years in a band it’s a huge impact not only on the group itself, but on the fans too. And now, Iron Maiden posted a video on their YouTube channel thanking the legend Nicko McBrain of his years of service, with footage from his last show in Brasil.
