Oklahoma Sooners No. 16 in lastest AP Poll after blowout of Missouri
The Oklahomaย Soonersย women’s basketball team is pushing to be a host team for the first two rounds of the NCAA women’s tournament. Oklahoma is coming off of a 16-point win over the Missouri Tigers on Sunday, a game they were trailing in and moved to 19-6 on the season and 7-5 in their inaugural season in the SEC.
Where OU Football and men’s basketball have struggled, the Sooners women’s basketball team has taken care of business. Though they’re 0-4 against Texas, South Carolina, LSU, and Kentucky, four teams ahead of them in the SEC standings, the Sooners have taken care of business, going 6-1 against the unranked SEC teams they’ve faced in conference play.
Sitting a couple of games above .500 with just one game against a ranked opponent remaining, Oklahoma has a great shot to earn a host site in the NCAA tournament.
In the latestย AP Poll, the Sooners came in at No. 16, the sixth-highest-ranked team in the SEC.
Notre Dame took the top spot this week, earning 16 of a possible first-place votes. They’re followed by Texas at No. 2, who earned eight first-place votes, and then UCLA, who dropped two spots this week and earned six first-place votes.
