MotoGP, An iconic rider retires!

MotoGP, An iconic rider retires!

It is ultimately quite rare for a driver who has never reached the premier category to retire, but this is the case today.ย Tatsuki suzuki, the leader of the Moto3 championship since 2015, has decided to hang up his leathersโ€ฆ at least for now. Without realizing it, he has achieved a few successes in the smallest of classes, but without ever being able to get close to the world title. The Japanese has made a decision that we imagine is difficult, but courageous.

It has been in the pipeline for a few months now, and it has now been made official by the rider himself. Tatsuki Suzuki will not be at the start of the 2025 championship, as he stated in an official statement.ย ยซย I would like to announce my decision: I am withdrawing from the race this year.. I have spent over twenty years as a racing driver and it was not an easy decision, but I no longer have the opportunity to race in the championship I have dreamed of since I was a child โ€“ย So now I have decided to change my future goals. There have been many beautiful moments and others very difficult, but I look back on these years with satisfaction and cannot help but thank all those with whom I have shared this adventure.ย I hope to see them all again when I return to the racetrack in another capacity.ย ยป

Having arrived in Moto3 during the 2015 season,ย Tatsuki had a hard time adjusting to his Mahindra.. Then, having joined the Sic58 Squadra Corse family, he embodied the Japanese hope for a long time, with his marked character that brought him closer and closer to the podium. He won his first victory in 2019, before repeating it in 2020, at the start of the season. During this year shortened due to the pandemic, he seemed capable of playing for the world title, but was forced to miss two races due to injury. Having moved to Honda Leopard, he had his best campaign in the world championship in 2022 (finishing in 7th place), and took, at the start of 2023,ย Another exceptional victory in the wet in Argentina, sticking almost five seconds to the second!

In 2024, everything got complicated. Now on Husqvarna with Intactย GP,ย He was unable to compete with his very fast teammate Collin Veijer.. He finished the season in 14th position, and seemed to be in great difficulty finding a handlebar at his advanced age. Tatsuki thus leaves the world as a Moto3 specialist; like Romano Fenati, these once numerous profiles are becoming rare.
