Austin Hill breaks Dale Jr.’s superspeedway record in Xfinity Series

Austin Hill is the best superspeedway driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and it was put on full display at Atlanta Motor Speedway. On Saturday night, Hill won the Xfinity Series race at Atlanta after leading a shocking 146 out of 163 laps. In fact, the Richard Childress Racing driver broke a record set by NASCAR Hall-of-Fame member Dale Earnhardt Jr.

On Saturday, Hill passed Earnhardt for the most laps led at superspeedway tracks in Xfinity Series history. The driver of the No. 21 car ended the night with 734 laps led while Earnhardt finished his career at 691 laps led. It’s even more impressive when digging deeper, as Hill has competed in far fewer superspeedway races compared to Earnhardt.

Hill also joined Earnhardt and Tony Stewart with eight drafting track victories, tied for the most in Xfinity Series history. It is fair to argue whether the 30-year-old driver is already the best superspeedway racer ever in the NASCAR level. After all, Hill isn’t done yet, and more superspeedway success is likely on the way in 2025.
