Hey, Hoynsie: The Guardians go to the American League Championship Series and they’ve spent the offseason acting like they’re rebuilding. Second base is wide open. They’re counting heavily on unproven Kyle Manzardo at first base/DH. Right field continues to be a joke and the rotation has three question marks. Instead of building on the ALCS appearance, they’ve regressed. 25th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards
This year’s Sports Awards featured a new show format, including two stages: The “Legends” stage sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, will feature fireside chat conversations and special presentations, while the “Champions” stage sponsored by Minutemen Staffing will feature awards presentations and more. Many sports celebrities will join this year’s show:
Veteran sports broadcaster and Cleveland native Chris Rose moderated a special fireside chat, reflecting on memorable moments from the 1995 American League Championship season. National Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Thome, along with Cleveland baseball legends Charles Nagy, Kenny Lofton, and Mike Hargrove, will join Rose for this reunion.
WKYC 3News anchor Jay Crawford will be joined on-stage by Cleveland Browns radio host Nathan Zegura for a tribute as part of the renaming of the Jim Donovan Courage Award presented by Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine.
