The surviving members of the original Alice cooper group reunited to record a new studio album titled The Revenge of Alice Cooper that will be released on July 25. To celebrate the new record, the four bandmates—Cooper, bassist Dennis Dunaway, guitarist Michael Bruce, and drummer Neal Smith—will be taking part in a special playback event on July 24 in London at Union Chapel.
The listening party also will feature a Q&A hosted by famed British songwriter Sir Tim Rice. Only 900 people will be able to attend the intimate gathering.
According to an announcement posted online, attendees will “get the first-ever listen to [the band’s] brand-new album.” In addition, the group members will “answer your burning questions” and share “some twisted tales from the road.”
Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday, June 11, at via the rough trade records website and dice.fm. Tickets will be available for purchase separately or bundled with a copy of the album in various formats. Those purchasing an album with a ticket also will receive a special poster.
If you’re unable to attend to the playback event, not to worry. The entire evening will be streamed live online around the world.
The listening party is scheduled to take place while Cooper and his current band are on tour in the U.K. It’s worth noting that Dunaway, Bruce, and Smith joined Cooper and his group to perform a special set at a series of U.K. shows in 2017. Perhaps history will repeat itself!
More About The Revenge of Alice Cooper
As previously reported, The Revenge of Alice Cooper is the first full-length album Cooper has made with Dunaway, Bruce and Smith since Muscle of Love in 1973.
According to a press release, The Revenge of Alice Cooper “is a high-voltage journey into vintage horror and classic ’70s shock rock, capturing the sound, energy, and mischief that made the original Alice Cooper band legendary.”
The album was produced with longtime Cooper studio collaborator Bob Ezrin. It features a posthumous appearance by the group’s founding lead guitarist, Glen Buxton, who died in 1997. An unreleased Buxton guitar part was incorporated into a new song titled “What Happened to You” that appears on the record.
The Doors’ Robby Krieger played guitar on “Black Mamba,” which was released as the first advance single from the album. That tune and a second advance track, “Wild Ones,” are available now via digital formats.
The Revenge of Alice Cooper can be pre-ordered now, and will be released in various formats and configurations. Among them are a standard CD, multiple two-LP vinyl variants, digital formats, and a limited-edition box set.
The vinyl versions of the album include a standard black-vinyl release and limited-edition colored-vinyl collections.
The box set features a CD digipak copy of the album and a 7-inh vinyl single with two bonus tracks. It also comes with a high-quality art print and an exclusive T-shirt. Only 5,000 copies of the box set have been produced, each one individually numbered.
