Many Capital Region baseball fans got their first look at the viral sensation Savannah Bananas last year, when the organization performed at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
While the Bananas did return to New York this year, they went out west to play three Banana Ball games at Buffaloโs Sahlen Field in July.
On Thursday, the organization announced its 2025 World Tour, and is returning to New York in the biggest way yet. The Bananas announced two dates in September 2025, where they will play at Yankee Stadium.
On Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, there will be Banana Ball in the Bronx. It will be the first time the organization has played at either of New Yorkโs Major League Baseball stadiums.
This year, the Bananas played at several MLB stadiums throughout the country, including Houstonโs Minute Maid Park, Bostonโs Fenway Park, Washington DCโs Nationals Park, Clevelandโs Progressive Field and Philadelphiaโs Citizens Bank Park.
Thursdayโs announcement for 2025 included dates at 18 MLB ballparks, as well as three football stadiums.
The organization also announced that in 2026, it will begin play in the Banana Ball Championship League. It will have six teams playing a 60 game schedule around the country, completely with Banana Ball rules, culminating in a championship.
Some of the rules that separate Banana Ball from baseball is its two-hour time limit, bunting being an automatic ejection, and if a fan catches a foul ball, itโs an out. And, one of the most important statistics in the sport is trick plays, such as catching the ball while doing a flip.
Tickets to Savannah Bananas games are only available on the organizationโs website, through a lottery system.
